A Day on the Columbia

VIDEO #183
Song - "Hip Hop No Pares" by Mexican Institute of Sound
Here it is! The video that peaks the hill and brings it on home to the 365 videos. It's smooth sailing from here on out!

Part two of the epic paddle in the Columbia River Gorge was by far, the best day of Fall. This might have to happen again before the weather turns gray. Good times, though, good times!

iMac Canoe

VIDEO #182
Song - "Don't Rock My Boat" by Bob Marley
OK... are you excited?...... Are you ready??!!!! Today is video 182.0 which means tomorrow is video #183.0. Are you with me???! We are excited because in 1.0 years there are 365.0 days. Split that, and you have 182.5 days. Are we on track yet????? Well, tomorrow will be 183 dangerously great videos with amazingly, fantastic memories which will round out todays in the "first time ever, two parter" that has a "second part finished"... video. Whooooaaaa!

It was a perfect day with great friends surrounding me. It feels great that,... if you were to be so brave and watch the last 181 videos right now, (which might mean you would miss work tomorrow), you would see that there have been very random, but great days, ... everyday in its own way. Whether you're completely obsessed like me and film a part of it or you store a minute here and there in the old memory bank... try and remember each day is open to your agenda... make something fun happen every now and then. It's worth it sometimes:)

Get Well Soon

VIDEO #181
Songs - "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff and "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin
My mom had an early surgery this morning that, in the very early stages, seem to have gone really well. She has her drugs, her channel changers, cozy house and friends nearby in case she needs to get a can of soup open. She's a tough cookie as this was the tenth, and hopefully last, operation trying to beat carpal tunnel. Rest well and enjoy some time off from work, mom. Well deserved!

Mike and Dan's Date Night

VIDEO #180
Song - "We Didn't Start The Fire" by Billy Joel
Mike the Cat is a pretty needy fellow and he tends to get what he wants. He asked for a fire last night so I gave him a fire he would never forget including tiki torches, candle light and red wine. Needless to say, he was impressed and stayed up late. Now, he is sleeping in a dark corner trying to shake his hangover. Me, not hungover. I'm just trying to figure out how to make a good video again... it appears I might be spent.

The Most Amazing Toy in the World

VIDEO #178
Children's Library Music
We headed out to check out what's new at Costco today and it was well worth it! Tons of battery powered Barbie sets lined the shelves and are ready to be taken home to enjoy. My favorite was the potty training Barbie set. It was quite elaborate and looked like tons of fun however, I felt my toy collection is getting pretty huge and made the decision to hold off for now. It really would have rounded out my collection nicely though.

Operation: Save Gary

VIDEO #176
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Theme
Katana and I took a break from the all exciting Claw Machines due to the abundance of stuffed animals we've captured from these things. We couldn't help checking out the Clean Sweep to see what prizes await adoption and a better life. We found Gary the Snail, Spongebob's pet, and by the looks of things, he needed rescue asap as he was going cross-eyed and stir crazy from claustrophobia. Two bucks later, he was ours. He now resides in NE Portland and enjoys reminiscing to early episodes of Ren and Stimpy, the Smurfs and Tale Spin. We have no intention of returning him to Spongebob... ever.

Kevin - The Door to Door Salesman

VIDEO #175
Song - "A Hundred and 60 Acres" by Marty Robbins
We had an unexpected visitor to the house and to our surprise, he had a lot to offer. From religion to magazines, this little guy tried casually to get a sale out of me but I think he needs to take door to door salesmen schooling. He didn't even try to rebuttal me when I said I was not interested. Although, I am a pretty tough sell... so there's that.

Summer's Last Sunset

VIDEO 174
Song - "Could You Be Loved" by Rockabye Baby (Bob Marley cover)

VIDEO #173
Song - "VCR" by "XX"
Whoa!!! Late night, it's 11:42pm.... we were out having way too much fun celebrating one of the best, coolest people known to mankind so far, their belated birthday party - party! Thank you for such an amazing friendship. If it wasn't so late, I would continue to tell the world how much of a great catch you are.... Love, love and a very happy birthday!

Simpler Times

VIDEO #172
NE Portland Real Time Sound
Paying homage to those clever Corona beer commercials, here's to you Simpler Times Beer, at last, your own commercial! In the marathon of videos from the last several months, I've used quite a bit of sound effects. Today, I am proud to say I have not used one sound effect for this video. It is all true. This is my backyard. These are the sounds that fill the air. It is glorious. It is simpler.

My Umbrella

VIDEO #171
Song - "Umbrella" by Rihanna
The rain season is underway and what better way to start it off than a little stroll around the neighborhood with your favorite umbrella? I was obviously having a ton of fun and to my surprise, once again, Katana caught me in all my skipping and jumping glory. Embarrassed? Naaaaaa!

Paul Bunyan

VIDEO #169
Rocky and Bullwinkle Theme
Some people go to church on Sunday while others might watch a football game. This guy simply chops a limb off his tree every Sunday. The only problem is it appears he is running out of tree. Either way, a good example of what people in Minnesota do on a typical Sunday.

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

VIDEO #168
Song - "You Got Served" by Novi Split
We had some time to burn before our flight back to Portland so we traveled on over to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden by the Walker Art Center. A beautiful day to walk around the park and check out the sculptures. Our favorite was the Two-way Mirror Punched Steel Hedge Labyrinth. There, we found out what our kid would look like if he/she was born an adult. Not the cutest of creatures but a happy camper at the least.

We're All So Tall

VIDEO #166
Songs - "I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller" by Lil Troy and "Tall Drink of Water" by Kevin Fowler
It's a family tradition to measure up to the relatives and see where you stand at my grandma's house in Minneapolis. I think the earliest measurement I saw was from 1964 and just the other day we marked the little ones for their first time.

We Are Family

VIDEO #166
Song - "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge
It was a great trip to Minnesota and what a great way to wrap it all up with a family BBQ at Grandmas house? It was quite the day and I'm still smiling from all the good times. Thank you all for being such a loving family. Next BBQ at Katana and Dan's!

Inline Marathon

VIDEO #165
Song - "I Need You Tonight" by INXS
Duluth, MN is home of many great things like cheese curds, early morning drinking, and the largest inline marathon in the country, the North Shore Inline Marathon. About 4000 skaters compete in the 26.2 mile race for prize money, a cool shirt and a cold beer which awaits them at the finish line. All that and we didn't even have to leave the house to watch as they sped past the house I grew up in.

Rudolph in Minnesota

VIDEO #164
"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
Rudolph was recently spotted filling up on apples in Minnesota in preparations to the upcoming Christmas season. We later found out the red-nose phenomenon is quite contagious and have made appointments with the nose doctor for later this week. Wish us luck.

Vikings vs Saints

VIDEO #163
Sports Theme Songs
Kick off to the 2010-2011 season is underway and the Vikings got a chance to redeem themselves in New Orleans yesterday. Well, the final score wasn't in Minnesota's favor but the fact that it wasn't a blowout and Favre is still in one piece is a victory in itself. Go old balls, go!

Katana's First Anchor Burger

VIDEO #162
Song - "Ghostly Lady" by Drunk Acoustic"
We made it to Superior, Wisconsin and where else to go but the semi-famous Anchor Bar for the delicious and super cheap burgers. Wash one of those down with a bloody and a 32oz beer then you're ready to go! Highly recommended! Don't forget to pick up one of their tshirts for the road.

Physical Challenge: Vertical Push Ups

VIDEO #157
Song - "You Spin Me Right Round" by Boy George
He's back at it with more physical challenges! This time the goal: 66 handstand push ups. No big deal, you're just upside down pushing all your weight while blood is rushing to your head... fun! Thought I'd wear some sweet workout gear for this one. American Gladiators here I come.

8 Mile Homies

VIDEO #156
Song - "Lose Yourself" by Eminem
Wow, late upload! Almost broke the streak. Here's a spoof from the movie 8 Mile with Eminem. Not a great movie whatsoever in my opinion but a great excuse to open up the toy chest. I love my toys... there... I said it!

Fun on Set

VIDEO #154
Song - "Entertainment" by Rise Against
Here's a fun little Behind-the-Scenes video from another photo/video shoot. It might seem like there's more play than work going on... well, yeah, that's exactly what's going on. Tons of fun.
