It's Not A Sandwich

VIDEO #030
Library Music
I would never expect anyone to have seen the Taco Bell commercial I am mocking so for those who aren't savvy to our pop culture these days, here's your link: Bad, but effective Taco Bell Ad. The funniest part of this is, once again, I get caught in the act as Katana gets home from working all day. This is work too, right?

Mopping with Gringo

VIDEO #029
Song - "Cupido" by Rick Trevino with Los Lobos
Gringo is at it again, preparing for final move out at the old house... the never ending mission.

Nike Slam Dunk

Video #028
Song - "My Prerogative" by Bobby Brown
Fun little video shoot in Las Vegas for Nike NBA Basketball during the good old days when we traveled to Sin City for work. This is the same shoot yours truly met Katana, then found out we lived about a mile away from each other in Portland. Thanks Vegas... and Nike. WEEK 4 = 28 videos, YEAH!

Dirty Homies

VIDEO #027
Song - "Cielito Lindo" by Mariachi Silvestre Vargas
I don't think there's anything wrong with a grown man playing with toys in the privacy of his own backyard. It's when someone sees you... that's when it becomes, maybe not wrong, but very awkward. I got caught playing with toys.

Jesperson Studio

VIDEO #026
Songs - "Ain't You Wealthy, Ain't You Wise" by Bonnie "Prince" Billy
- "Gaucho" by Gustavo Santaolalla
- "Mad World" by Roland Orzabal
For my dad's birthday today, I thought of posting some of his great photography from over the years. I have such great memories growing up and heading over to his studio downtown in the DeWitt Seitz Building. That's where it all began. His funky man cave studio was exactly what I wanted when I grew up. So many awesome tools and toys, props and whatnots... oh it was the best! Well, I'm not quite there yet, Dad, so get on over to Oregon and help with the new studio. Show me how it's done! Happy Birthday, I love ya tons and thank you for all the inspiration.
The small video does little justice so check out Jesperson Studio's site HERE
and to view bigger go to YouTube

The Showdown

VIDEO #025
Song from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Sound clips from Clint Eastwood: Gran Torino and Dirty Harry)
Mike the Cat has a new arch nemesis who we have named Cliff (after Heathcliff). Mike stands his ground pretty good from inside but, true story, as I was putting this edit together, Mike and Cliff went at it on the front porch. I broke it up too soon to tell who was the victor. I'm guessing Cliff because he's quite bigger. Cliff might have the muscles but he doesn't have an internet fan base. Go Mike go!

Motion Pictures

VIDEO #024
Song - "Hurt" by Rockabye Baby!
Wow, late night post, this blog thing has become harder and harder. Well, here is a composite of my great friend Shirley's photo wall from today. I started playing around with replacing the photos with video. Could be a cool idea, might try something like this again. Of course this blog shows video so small so I will follow up with a link to a larger video. NOTE to anyone out there following, sometimes you have to reload the page on this site and/or fast forward/reverse the video, them play from the start. The site runs like an old ford, it'll work, you just have to know how to use it.

Mastering the Art of Cliff Jumping

VIDEO #023
Song - "Let the Poison Spill" by The Faint
Outside of Bozeman, Montana, a hidden tribe of people called the Jumpanzees, have mastered the art of cliff jumping. On a casual float one summer with my brother, the tribe gifted me the talent on one condition... that I would mention them in my "Video of the Day" blog. Well here you go, thanks for the lesson Jumpanzees. Great camera work Matt.

Fastest Wedding Ever

VIDEO #022
Songs - Your typical wedding songs with a little Gregorian Chant to spice things up
Time lapse of Tommy and Lauren's beautiful wedding from the upper deck. If all weddings could be as fast and painless as this, I think more people would RSVP.

A Day in the Life of Mike - The Cat

VIDEO #021
Song - "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent
Mike the Cat has been adapting well to the new house but it seems that he might feel out numbered by the neighborhood cats. These guys look a little more rough this side of the moat (crossing over 82nd that is). We are both in training as of today and hope to make it outside and stand up to those bullies.

Top Twenty Shots

VIDEO #020
Song - "I Wish I Knew" by Human Highway
Here's a collection of my favorite photos from way back in the day to present. There's a bunch more on RedBubble which is a cool site to join. It's free, you could make a couple bucks and the art is fantastic. Worth looking into. Oh, and YEAH, video 20 of 365 is done!

This little tune is from quite some time ago and thought it needed a home on the blog so throw on a hawaiian shirt and check it out.

Destination - BWCA

VIDEO #018
Song - "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot
Paying homage to one of my favorite places growing up and to this day, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area back home in Minnesota. Never a bad time with a good group of friends, your boat, rod and reel and some bourbon. It's full of wildlife with an abundance of lakes for great fishing and swimming. Most importantly, it's that you're away from everything and the further you get out, the better it gets.

Prayers and Pints

VIDEO #017
Song - "Boadicea" by Enya to "Ready or Not" by The Fugees
This video is so random, kind of like the neighborhood I'm in now. We've got Frolic's live dancers, Ed's House of Gems for all you rock collectors, Park City Pub aka the PCP, The Rocky Butte Pub (however the E in Butte has been removed from the sign), and then of course The Grotto. A 62-acre Catholic shrine and botanical garden. Makes sense, right? So, like a good son, I thought I'd show my mom some of these wonderful attractions.

A Bug's Life

Song - "Drifter in the Dark" by Ween
Don't let this video bug you because it's f-ant-astic! Wow... that was really bad.

The Mighty Canucks

VIDEO #015
Song - "Disconnected" by Face to Face
I was able to break away from work a little and enjoy some of the 2010 Winter Games which was quite the time. So many people. Amazing atmosphere to be in. Afar from the local craziness happening all over Vancouver, I was able to attend Speed Skating and this early game with Germany and Belarus. After 16 days of Canada, I was happy to get back down to the states and not watch sports.

Way Off Task

VIDEO #014
Song - "Rock You Like A Hurricane" by Scorpions
So yesterday was a fun filled day of cleaning the basement, 60 year old cobweb detail, rodent poop removal, oil spill scrubbing... you get the picture. Not sure if it was because of all that excitement, the basement fumes or the Pinot Grigio that led me to bounce off the walls, but I do know that today I need to stay on task. Of course tomorrow's video might prove me as a true slacker.

Spring Hail

VIDEO #013
Song - "No Surprises" by Rockabye Baby!
The other day at the new house, mother nature decided to give us free ice from the heavens. "Jesus Ice". If we could package and market that, I think we've got something! And yes, the backyard needs a lot of love. Progress to follow...

Take A Hike

VIDEO #012
Song - "Drangkinbala" by Biekbala Mujik
Hiking up the Columbia Gorge on the Oregon side to Angel's Rest. Nice forest, not too much for waterfalls... mainly for the view overlooking The Gorge. Worth the steep hike.

Target... For Him

VIDEO #011
Song - Track 9 by Chinese Singalong
Recently found out why Target is so addicting... the carts! It doesn't hurt to visit a happy hour before hand, just make sure you're not over the limit for driving the cart. Good camera work sweets!

"Death Crash"

VIDEO #009
So if you ever wondered what it might be like to be in a plane crash, here you go. The video is compiled from various trips within the last couple years... of coarse I couldn't resist using some sound clips from "Airplane - The Movie."

Manzanita Christmas Vacation

VIDEO #008
Song - "Wave of Mutilation" by The Pixies
Slideshow #001. Photos from the Oregon Coast at Manzanita around Christmas in '09 with family (hence, Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase... we watched it through the window from the hot tub, highly suggest this way to watch all classics).

Stayed at a really great beach house that I would recommend to medium/large groups. Look up the "Seaward Dream" rental and don't forget to invite me.

Gangsta Shave

VIDEO #007
Song - "TiK ToK" by Ke$ha
Sometimes you have to shave like a thug. Would like to note, this makes week one of "Video of the Day" complete! Only 52.177457 weeks left, no big deal.

Mowing with Gringo

VIDEO #006
Song - "La Culebra" by Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitán
Time lapse while mowing the yard. Super cheesy, something you might see in an old Sesame Street episode. The strange font I went with is called "Burrito." That's right... burrito.

The Self Eating Sandwich

VIDEO #004
REQUEST #001
The first "Video of the Day" request from Dadio is "The Self Eating Sandwich!" I already know what he will say about this:

"What's wrong with this picture? You didn't use the classic white bread. It's the only bread for a PB&J... and you cut the thing wrong, you know better to cut a PB&J diagonally, not down the middle!? What has become of my son?"

I have no excuses for this but to say that here in Portland, us hippies tend to stay away from the white bread and from my experience that whole grain stuff likes to fall apart, hence a cut down the middle for a more square surface area. For this I am sorry to have failed you Papa. In my defense, I have not strayed from the all important Skim Milk to compliment the PB&J. Thanks for the request Dad.

Sunrise Storm

VIDEO #003
Song - "Way Up" by Gustavo Santaolalla
Time lapse series of storm clouds breaking to blue skies. I've become a little obsessed with clouds recently and now in April, it's time to shoot those big guys. Other than Gustavo''s reversed track, all the sound was recorded in my back yard.

Walk Hard

VIDEO #002
Song - "Footsteps" by JJ Grey and Mofro
Collection of various POV shots, ok... lets see, where was I? First clip crossing the log is around Bagby Hot Springs, Oregon. The second log cross is in Forest Park, Portland. The rocks and sand with my favorite old sandals (which were huge) took place by Lake Superior, Minnesota. Snowshoes took place around Mt. Hood and snowboarding was on Hood. Might get some of you dizzy!
