Expedition #4: Retrospective

VIDEO #360
Song - "Blindsided" by Bon Iver
Some of my favorite moments from the year were very simple. Spontaneous hikes in and around Oregon, smiling with my sweetheart, great music and the comfort of a new home. So, in retrospect, I'd like to throw this out there...... breakdancing, teleporting, pocket dogs, holiday nut sacks and redneck birds might appear to be 'what it's all about'... but it's not. It's about the Hokey Pokey.

Vitamin D

VIDEO #343
Song - "Wonderwall" Performed by Cat Power
Rain is back in the extended forecast here in these neck of the woods so I thought I'd treat myself to a great memory of a hot summer's day at the beach with my favorite girl. These are the days we need in our extended forecast, help us out Mr Roker!

Marsh's Free Museum

VIDEO #328
Sounds of the Weird
In the last video from Long Beach, we stopped on over to Marsh's Free Museum to visit Jake the Alligator Man, the two headed calf and all the other strange oddities the museum has in store. Oh, and did I mention it's free? It's hard not to throw a nickel or dime in the antique novelty machines. A must see if in the town, you can't afford not to check it out!

LAS to PDX

VIDEO #311
Song - "1974" by Gone Done Wrong
Even though it is only a 2 hour flight from Las Vegas to Portland, it is quite an extreme difference in lifestyle... then again, it's a huge difference anywhere and Las Vegas. Needless to say, it feels great to be home even though the sky is gray and the streets are wet. I wouldn't trade it for (almost) anything. Viva Las Portlandia!

Noise

VIDEO #283
Portland Oregon Sounds
The other day, driving along the freeway, I noticed a path parallel to the road. No one on it, no idea how to access it or where it leads to. I pulled up Google Maps, found it to be a "multi-use path." This thing stretches all across the city, connecting to other freeways and bike paths, you name it. Best of all, access is a stone's throw away. On the negative side, it's loud as hell!

Expedition #1: Waterfall

VIDEO #193
Song - "Woods" by Bon Iver
The Columbia River Gorge is home to many spectacular waterfalls and a rainy day usually means less people heading out to them. Sure, you'll get a bit wet, but that's where the fun happens. Plus.... it's a natural and free way to get a quick shower! No wonder my cell phone doesn't work anymore...

PDX to LAX

VIDEO #130
Song - "Procession" by Adam Hurst
My recent flight from Portland to Los Angeles had beautiful scenery on a great day which made it peaceful, yet kind of eerie as I had a soundtrack in my head from amazing cellist, Adam Hurst who performed to travelers in Portland's airport terminal. It really made the flight, thanks Adam... I'm enjoying your CD!

LONGest BEACH

VIDEO #117
Song - "My Beach" by Human Highway
28 sandy miles makes Long Beach, Washington the longest beach in the world (further research proves it isn't but it is the United States longest which is pretty fantastic). With foggy and brisk weather, we had to wear what we could find from our recent visit to Long Beach's annual rodeo (awesome videos sure to follow). Besides the unpredictable weather, a great place to get some fresh chowder and possibly catch your own, driving on the beach, amazing bakery, great people watching and of course the Long Beach Tavern aka the LBT to wet your whistle after long windy walks on the beach. Oh, and the bridge you'll see spans the Colombia River from Oregon to Washington. Also, great fun.

100 Time Lapse Videos

VIDEO 100
Song - "Paper Aeroplane" by Angus and Julia Stone
100 consecutive videos, wow! I am thrilled to have made it this far and hope to follow with 265 more. To celebrate, I chose 100 time lapse clips I've shot through out the years. For those who know me well, you might find yourself making a cameo in the montage. Well, back to work. For those tuning in, drop in, say hi and leave a comment. Knowing people are watching helps to make it all happen. Thank you all for the support!

Hawaii We Go

VIDEO #066
Song - "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
If you haven't had the opportunity, I would highly suggest visiting Kauai for a week or two... or three. If you are too afraid of flying, I would be more than happy to receive funding for travel to film more and share the footage with you fine people. Please don't send cash as it might get lost in the mail. You can send check, money order and/or email me your credit card number. Haha, that'd be awesome!

Flat Stanley

VIDEO #033
Song - Track 5 by Chinese Singalong
My niece Sally and her 2nd Grade class sent out their Flat Stanley figures to friends and family last month and I was proud to be responsible to show the little guy around the Pacific Northwest. Oh, we had so much fun! I think Mr. Stanley had a pretty good time too. We will miss you good buddy! You're always welcome back to the West Coast!

Destination - BWCA

VIDEO #018
Song - "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot
Paying homage to one of my favorite places growing up and to this day, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area back home in Minnesota. Never a bad time with a good group of friends, your boat, rod and reel and some bourbon. It's full of wildlife with an abundance of lakes for great fishing and swimming. Most importantly, it's that you're away from everything and the further you get out, the better it gets.

Take A Hike

VIDEO #012
Song - "Drangkinbala" by Biekbala Mujik
Hiking up the Columbia Gorge on the Oregon side to Angel's Rest. Nice forest, not too much for waterfalls... mainly for the view overlooking The Gorge. Worth the steep hike.

"Death Crash"

VIDEO #009
So if you ever wondered what it might be like to be in a plane crash, here you go. The video is compiled from various trips within the last couple years... of coarse I couldn't resist using some sound clips from "Airplane - The Movie."
